This department manages growth and development of new & emerging technology areas and is responsible for formulation and implementation of key policies in this sector in the State of Gujarat. E-governance and IT‚ Biotechnology‚ Science and Technology‚ Remote sensing and Space Application and Siesmology are some areas looked after the DST. It inculcates scientific temper among masses and particularly the youth and students. It encourages research and application‚ promote investments in the area and inculcate scientific learning among youth and students. It positions Gujarat in Knowledge economy sector. It creates employment opportunities in the knowledge economy sectors including manufacturing of Semi conductor/micro/nano technology in the State.
